Have you ever prayed for God to give you clarity and then wondered, “Is that God speaking—or is that just me?”
In Episode 13, we're talking about how to discern God's voice when you're surrounded by your own thoughts, other people's opinions, and the noise of everyday life. We'll talk about why not everything is a sign from God, the danger of searching until we hear the answer we want, and why knowing God's Word is so important when we're seeking His direction.
I'll also share how God continued to place the idea of starting this podcast on my heart in the most ordinary moments—and what it taught me about making room to hear Him.
You don't have to desperately search for God's voice. He knows where to find you.
Scriptures: Proverbs 3:5–6, Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 15:22, 2 Timothy 4:3–4, 1 John 4:1, Psalm 46:10, Jeremiah 17:9, John 10:27, Isaiah 30:21

What does it really mean to be rooted in Christ?
In the very first episode of Called & Rooted, we talked about simple ways to get rooted—but in this episode, we're going deeper.
Because we can go to church, read our Bible, serve others, and live a Christ-like life, but being deeply rooted goes beyond what others can see.
In this episode, we're talking about what happens when trouble comes, worry creeps in, life gets loud, or you don't know which direction to take. How do we move from simply knowing about God to trusting Him enough to surrender what we can't control?
We'll talk about growing through godly community, recognizing the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and developing the kind of relationship with God that allows us to trust Him—even when we don't know what's ahead.
Because you may not be able to see the roots of a tree on a beautiful day, but when the storm comes, the depth of those roots matters.
So, how deep are your roots?
Scripture: Colossians 2:6–7 | Isaiah 30:21 | John 14:26 | Ephesians 1:13

Do you ever feel like you've lost sight of who God created you to be?
Maybe you've become so busy managing responsibilities, meeting deadlines, and caring for everyone else that you've forgotten the unique gifts God placed inside of you long before you ever carried the titles you have today.
In this episode of Called & Rooted, we're talking about what it means to discover your identity in Christ by first removing the things that keep you from hearing God's voice and then learning to faithfully steward the gifts He has entrusted to you.
Darby shares her own journey of realizing that God wasn't asking her to leave teaching; He was expanding the assignment. Through a new school, the Dear Disciple Box, and this podcast, she discovered that the gift had never changed. God simply gave it a new place to grow.
In This Episode
1. Prune the roots that are keeping you from hearing God.
Learn how distraction, comparison, busyness, and unhealthy consumption can keep you from recognizing God's direction and why pruning those roots creates space for Him to work.
2. Rediscover the gifts God has already placed inside of you.
What did you naturally love doing as a child? What comes easily to you? Together we'll explore how God uniquely created you to serve others through the gifts He planted within you.
3. Steward your gifts where God has you today.
Your assignment may change, but the gifts God has given you remain. Discover how faithfulness in your current season can become the starting point for something far greater than you imagined.
This Week's Challenge
Spend time with the Lord and ask Him:
"God, what gift have You placed inside of me that I've forgotten, neglected, or buried beneath the responsibilities of life?"
Write down what comes to mind.
Pray over it.
Then take one small step this week to faithfully steward that gift where God has you today.
Scriptures Mentioned
1 Peter 4:10
Romans 8:29–30
Isaiah 55:8–9

Comparison can quietly convince us that we're behind, on the wrong path, or missing what God has for us. In this episode, Darby is joined by special guest Lilli Williams for an honest conversation about trusting God's calling, even when it leads in an unexpected direction.
Together, they discuss stewarding the gifts God has given you, finding confidence in His unique assignment for your life, and why faithfulness matters more than following someone else's path.
Whether you're preparing for graduation, helping a child make future plans, or simply seeking clarity in your own season of life, this conversation is a reminder that God is faithful to lead those who trust Him.
Scripture: Ephesians 2:10, Proverbs 3:5–6, Colossians 3:23
Reflection Question: Am I measuring my life by someone else's path, or am I faithfully stewarding the calling God has placed on mine?

In this episode, Darby talks about why it's so important to choose God's Word over the world's voice and how even the smallest seeds can grow into deep roots if we're not paying attention.
Removing what's not honoring God is a great first step, but He never intended to leave us empty. He wants to fill us with His presence, His truth, and His peace.
My prayer is that this episode encourages you to slow down, become more aware of what you're consuming, and invite Jesus to shape your heart and mind each day.
As you go throughout your week, I want to leave you with one question:
"Is what I'm about to consume drawing me closer to Christ, or quietly pulling me away?"
Because what you repeatedly consume today becomes what you're rooted in tomorrow.
Thanks for spending this time with me. I'll see you next Monday here on Called & Rooted Christian Moms. Stay Rooted, Mamas!

In this episode of Called & Rooted, we continue our Roots series by looking at one of the greatest obstacles to spiritual growth: distraction.
We explore how distractions don't always come in the form of busy schedules or overflowing calendars, but  in our own minds.
Through the story of Moses in Exodus, we see that God doesn't always give us the entire roadmap. Instead, He often asks us to be faithful with what He's already placed in our hands.
Together we discuss:
How distractions can keep us from recognizing God's assignment.
Why fear, excuses, and other people's opinions often cloud our obedience.
The importance of renewing our minds through Romans 12:2.
How to take every thought captive and fix our minds on what is true, lovely, and pleasing to God.
Practical ways to quiet the noise in our heads by relying on the Holy Spirit instead of our own strength.
This week's challenge: Look at what God has already placed right in front of you. What assignment, opportunity, relationship, or next step have you been overlooking? Ask God to help you silence the distractions and faithfully steward what is already in your hands.
Key Scriptures:
Exodus 4:2
Romans 12:2
Romans 8:7–9
Philippians 4:8
2 Corinthians 10:5
Remember: Distraction doesn't always remove us from God's purpose. It often keeps us from seeing what He has already prepared.
Stay rooted, renew your mind, and trust God with the next faithful step.

Busyness has become a badge of honor, but is it the life God is calling us to?
In this episode, we're talking about what it looks like to steward our time through a biblical lens. Together, we'll walk through three practical ways to live with greater intention: recognizing the season you're in, learning to say no with wisdom, and following Jesus' example of rest.
The goal isn't to accomplish more. It's to walk faithfully with God in the time He's given you. As we learn to surrender even the smallest decisions to Him, we begin to trade striving for stewardship and busyness for a life that is deeply rooted in Christ.
Scripture Referenced:
Jeremiah 17:7–8
Ecclesiastes 3:1
1 Corinthians 10:13
Matthew 5:37
Ephesians 5:15–16

What if the very interruption you've been frustrated by is actually God inviting you to slow down?

In this episode of Called & Rooted, I'm sharing the unexpected lesson God taught me through something as ordinary as a broken dishwasher. As a wife, mom of three, and someone who often finds herself in "go mode," I realized how easy it is to become so focused on checking off the next task that we miss the quiet moments where God wants to speak.

Through the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38–42, we'll explore the difference between being busy for God and simply being with God. We'll talk about how convenience isn't always creating more margin, how interruptions can become invitations, and how God often gets our attention in the middle of everyday life.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, constantly rushing, or struggling to hear God's voice through the noise, this episode is a gentle reminder that sometimes the most productive thing we can do is pause, listen, and sit at the feet of Jesus.

In this episode, we'll discuss:

- Why busyness can keep us from hearing God's voice.
- What a broken dishwasher taught me about slowing down.
- The lesson of Mary and Martha in our everyday lives.
- How God often speaks through interruptions and inconveniences.
- Simple ways to create space to listen for God's leading.

Scripture:
Luke 10:38–42

Let's stay rooted together.
